Mike holds a Masters in Irish Traditional Music Performance from
the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick.
He is an accomplished teacher of Irish
bouzouki accompaniment, guitar and tenor guitar, bodhran accompaniment and can also facilitate
workshops for start up music groups looking to gain perspective and
advantage in stagecraft and the arrangement of songs and
instrumentals. Mike has taught at the Irish World Academy, the
University of Canterbury in New Zealand, in numerous festival workshops
and privately.
Mike specializes in DADGAD guitar tuning to accompany traditional Irish music.
Skype is the long distance
option and opens the world up to learn Irish music. Mike will be
starting Skype lessons in May 2012.
If you
live in the Los Angeles area lessons can be conducted in your home or in
Mikes. He is available for workshops and group lessons on bodhran (5
maximum) and bouzouki (three maximum). Travel is not a problem if there
are larger workshop groups interested in learning these instruments.
